Charity

The biggest success is leaving something bigger behind.

alexstaniforth2

The outdoors has long been Alex’s tool for managing depression, anxiety and bulimia since a teenager.

But it took him longer to get the support he needed for his mental health as a young man than it did to cycle/walk/run/kayak 5,000 miles around the UK. Ever since Alex has been on a mission to help others access the same benefits of our ‘Natural Health Service’.

Alex’s adventures have always been driven by important causes, as an opportunity to raise both funds and awareness.

Alex is an award-winning fundraiser, ambassador and charity founder who has raised in excess of £100,000 for numerous charities supporting mental health, disadvantaged people in Nepal, cancer and endangered animals.

He won the Pride of Britain Granada Fundraiser of the Year 2017 and was recognised by the Prime Minister with a Points of Light Award in 2023.

Mind Over Mountains – restoring mental health, naturally

After an initial event with Adventure Uncovered in 2018, Alex co-founded Mind Over Mountains in 2020 – a groundbreaking mental health charity offering professional mental health support in nature.

As a charity, we enable people to restore and sustain their mental health and wellbeing through programmes that bring together walking in nature, mindfulness, & specialist coaching & counselling. We believe that everyone should have access to the tools that they need to stay physically and mentally well.

Mind Over Mountains delivers one-day walks and weekend well-being retreats across England and Wales for the general public, non-profit organisations, corporate teams and blue light emergency services.

Could you or someone you know benefit from attending a Mind Over Mountains event?
