Coaching

GOPR1977 small

I help aspiring professionals, athletes and introverted leaders to overcome challenges and achieve the extraordinary.

From surviving two disasters on Mount Everest, breaking endurance records, becoming an international motivational speaker (despite a lifelong stammer), to founding a leading UK wellbeing charity in my twenties – I know what it takes to overcome challenges, get my voice heard and achieve the seemingly impossible.

All of us have the potential to achieve our own definition of success. But life challenges, fear or unhelpful narratives often hold us back. Having a coach in your corner can help you find the clarity, energy and tools you need to take the first and most difficult steps.

As a resilience and performance coach, I help aspiring professionals, athletes and introverted leaders unlock the resilience, mindset and confidence to achieve more than they believed was possible.

Drawing on my own challenges, successes and failures in work, adventure and life; I can become the accountability partner you need to take action and move forward. Why settle for Base Camp?

What is coaching?

Aren’t you too young to be a life coach?!

At 30 years old I’m not your typical coach. But I believe that growth has no expiry date. It’s not how old we are; but how alive we are!

Maybe you’re as uncomfortable as me when it comes to singing your own praises… But over the last two decades I’ve been turning adversity into strength and challenges into growth. A near-death experience on Mount Everest at just 19 years old gave me a truly unique perspective on life, purpose and overcoming setbacks, which has driven me to push my limits and help others do the same.

I’m the first and only person to climb all 446 mountains within England & Wales by human power: running and cycling over 3,000km in just 45 days. I’ve been on five expeditions in the Himalayas, published two books (Icefall and Another Peak) and create an award-winning mental health charity, Mind Over Mountains during the pandemic. Despite a lifelong stammer, I’m now an international inspirational speaker who has worked with global brands including Samsung, Kelloggs, Rolls-Royce, and the NHS. My challenges have raised over £150,000 for charity, and I received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Chester in 2025 for services to young people’s mental health.

But my biggest challenges have been much closer to home: having battled anxiety, bullying, epilepsy, a stammer and depression since childhood. I know how it feels to be a failure, overwhelmed, or like an imposter. This lived experience brings compassion and healthy challenge to my coaching.

However big or small your challenge feels right now: I look forward to helping you reach the next peak.

What is coaching?

Coaching is not about advice or quick fixes. It’s about questions and creating a non-judgmental space to explore possibilities, find clarity and overcome any self-limiting beliefs or challenges that might be holding you back. As a coach I believe you already have all the answers, but sometimes we need a different perspective to notice them.

We might work together towards a specific goal or ongoing challenge; or maybe you don’t know where to start, but simply know that something needs to change. During the coaching conversation, we often discover the challenge is something different altogether.

The ICF (International Coaching Federation) defines coaching as “Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”

Mentoring is about guiding and sharing personal experience. A mentor has been there and done it, and passes on their knowledge to those aspiring on a similar path.

I’m an ICF-trained coach and mentor who has been on a journey. Our initial chat can determine the best approach for you.

What's holding you back?

PERFORMANCE

Have a dream goal but life keeps getting in the way? Lacking the confidence or is the imposter voice too loud?

Maybe you don’t need more motivation: you need someone in your corner to hold you accountable. We don’t set SMART goals, we set courageous goals – and together we can build a plan to get you there.

RESILIENCE

Being tested by the times? Navigating a major life milestone, change or challenge?

Resilience isn’t about pushing through alone. We can explore the key pillars of resilience to help you adapt, overcome and even thrive in the face of adversity.

WELLBEING

Feeling burnt out, anxious or stressed? Want to feel happier, energized and back in control?

It’s easy for leaders to blur the boundaries, where everything becomes a priority. Often it’s not about yoga and wellbeing retreats, but the small habits we practice every day.

Something else? I coach the person, not the problem – and I’d love to help you.

The Long Game: £180/month

Create accountability as we work towards long-term goals, visions and lasting change. I’ll be in your corner throughout to help you deal with setbacks and doubts as they arise.

2 sessions per month + WhatsApp support between. Commit for a minimum of 4 months.

My coaching is delivered 1:1 online, on Zoom or a platform of your choice. Sessions are typically 60 mins but can be delivered in person if local to Kendal, Cumbria.

Many coaches insist that you commit to a minimum package rather than one-off sessions. This ensures that clients are fully committed to a process and achieving an outcome (much like going to the gym). However, I understand that life gets in the way and everyone works at different cadences. This is why I offer flexibility with packages, one-off sessions and a monthly subscription to serve you best.

I’m not a running coach (yet) and can’t give you a training plan – but can happily recommend someone who can!

What challenges are you facing?

Alex would love to help you take that first step.
